We, the undersigned request that immediate action be taken to return Brandon Lee Barnes to his devoted father, Douglas E. Barnes.
Brandon was taken from his family by New Jerseys Division of Youth and Family Services (DYFS) within a week of his birth. Though his parents were never accused of mistreating Brandon, or any other child, he has been held captive in foster care for more than two years. Douglas has complied with all of the orders from the state and completed every aspect of his original reunification plan, including parenting classes, psychological evaluations, and a move into a suitable two-bedroom house. He and his son have only been allowed to see each other once a week, in a supervised situation, even though the state has no reason to question Douglas' ability to care for Brandon.
DYFS has kidnapped this poor little boy and left his father devastated without any justification. Meanwhile, Brandon lives with a foster caregiver who publicly refers to Douglas as a sperm donor even though she herself admits that there is nothing wrong with him. Because New Jersey is notorious for separating families in order to earn $4000-6000 per child in adoption incentives from the federal government, we have every reason to believe that Brandon is being used to make his state wealthy.
Douglas and his son have a supportive network of extended family and close friends just waiting to bring him home. They will not rest until Brandon is back in the arms of his devoted father.
