In this day and age, so many savings can be made through having access to the internet.
i.e. through paperless billing for electricity, gas, telephone, etc.. Things like home insurance is cheaper through the internet.Yet the majority of pensioners cannot get these savings because they cannot afford broadband. Also, those who have relatives far afield could save money through the likes of Skype. This would not cost the government a lot as I'm sure they could easily do a deal with internet providers to provide a basic package. So let's get the ball rolling and get our pensioners into the 21st Century.
