Mumia Abu-Jamal is an innocent man who has been in jail since 1982. After being denied the right to defend himself and representation by John Africa he was convicted of killing police officer Daniel Faulkner. Mumia was sentenced to die by Judge Sabo, the judge with more death sentences than any other in Pennsylvania, presently. In 1995, witnesses at Mumias original trial that testified against him admitted that they had been threatened by the police to testify against Mumia. The judge at the post conviction relief hearing, the same judge at the original trial, dismissed all of the testimony without just cause. The hanging Judge Albert Sabo even dismissed the fact that the bullet that was used in the shooting was a .44 caliber, yet Mumias registered gun was a .38 caliber.
Mumia has been on death row in Waynesburg, Penn. without ever receiving a fair trial! He has been ignored by all of the courts, including the Supreme Court, which turned down his petition for a new trial in 1999. This injustice must be rectified.
