Galapagos Charter School- Request for Approval

We, the undersigned, believe that Galapagos Charter School would greatly benefit and enhance the educational opportunities available to children on Chicago's West Side.

Galapagos Charter School is a planned Kindergarten through Eighth grade school focusing on providing underserved children with the skills that would allow them to adapt and prosper in an ever increasing global community. Galapagos Charter School will stress the acquisition of core knowledge, while exposing children to challenging, higher order thinking activities. In addition, Galapagos Charter School will enhance students abilities to adapt by promoting positive kinesthetic and nutritional development. Finally, Galapagos will provide children with a head start on foreign language acquisition, economic literacy and collegiate opportunities.

We, the undersigned, respectfully request that Chicago Public Schools approve Galapagos Charter School's application to operate, at 849 W. Leamington, beginning in the 2005-2006 school year.
