This petition is written in regard to Terri Schindler-Shiavo, a Florida resident who is being illegally starved to death by means of the removal of her feeding tube, and deprivation of oral feeding. We the undersigned are asking you to intervene and give Terri Schindler-Schiavo her right to live. It is the duty of our government to extend the same constitutional protection of due process to Mrs. Schindler-Shiavo as death row inmates receive. We are referring, as you already know, to the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution:
Amendment XIV
Section 1. All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside. No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any state deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.
This amendment alone grants Terri Schindler-Shiavo her right to live.
