We wish to suggest that although the current emoticons are sufficient for expressing the base emotions of the most primitive users of your service, the more advanced users, and indeed those users who are gifted with a firm grasp of the English language, require a slightly more sophisticated means of pictorial expression. Keeping our common interest of both increased audience and ease of use in mind, we propose a move away from the crude "smileys" of the current AIM and towards a more efficient, expressive form of "smiley"; one that in fact can express more than simple smiles, but can relay the entire gamut of human emotion. We the undersigned, having considerable experience on and about the World Wide Web, advocate a system of emoticons more closely resembling those currently in use by the art site DevianART, found at http://www.deviantart.com. We feel that such emoticons will draw in the more refined audience and will considerably enhance the AIM experience for those of us who already know and love your service.
