This petition in support of commutation of sentence is presented on behalf of Clyde Timothy Bunkley by the undersigned citizens who have carefully considered the judicial disposition in the criminal matter of the State of Florida versus Clyde Timothy Bunkley, circuit court case no.86-1070-CF-A-N1 Sarasota County, Florida,
we believe the sentence of "LIFE" imprisonment with no possibility of release, and the continual incarceration of Mr. Bunkley for the criminal offence of "ARMED BURGLARY". The "armed burglary" nature of which rest exclusively upon his possession of an unopened common pocketknife
that had a blade of less than 2 3/4 inches. which was not used in anyway,, shape, or form, when he committed a burglary of an unopened and unoccupied restaurant in 1987, is a gross travesty of justice that demands immediate rectification by Florida Executive clemency Board in the form of commuting Mr. Bunkleys "LIFE" sentence to a term of years and/or time served.
Collectively we state to the governing authorities that it is simply wrong to keep Mr. Bunkley incarcerated until he dies for this offence.
Accordingly, we express our support of Clyde Timothy Bunkley,s application for executive clemency and commutation of sentence, and respectfully request it be granted.
