To the members of the Board of Education, Superintendent of Schools, Principal and Athletic Director of Wauconda CUSD 118:
The 2007 Boys Varsity Football season was one for the history books. Our community and school rallied around our student athletes in a show of unprecedented support. Waucondas winning season and play off run - - Waucondas first in a decade was the culmination of many years of hard work by our athletes, their parents, the school and the coaches. There has been no one more dedicated to advancing this program and to ensuring this years successes than our Head Coach Glenn Kozlowski, fondly referred to as Coach Koz. Coach Kozs enthusiasm and passion should not be misunderstand -but embraced. It was his passion and vision that brought us to our winning season. As exciting as this winning season was, winning for the sake of winning has never been Coach Kozs goal. For Coach Koz a winning football season is a means to an end the development of young peoples character and the provision of college scholarship opportunities. For years, college recruiters ignored Wauconda athletes, instead focusing on the athletes who played for more proven area schools. For the first time Wauconda athletes have a chance to move to the collegiate level as a direct result of Coach Kozs tireless efforts. He is at the forefront promoting Waucondas program and its students to the media and to college recruiters. He brings a level of legitimacy and sophistication to Waucondas athletic program. Make no mistake people are taking Wauconda and its athletes seriously because of the Head Coach. We believe if not for Coach Koz we would not have had a winning 2007 football season, nor will we have a bright future. Without Coach Koz our students will be at a great disadvantage for scholarship opportunities and recognition. In addition, the cooperation between the school administration and the head coach is crucial to the further enhancement of Wauconda Football as well as the unsolicited benefit of community spirit and participation. As Students, Players, Parents, Fans and Community Members, we respectfully demand that you retain Coach Koz for the 2008 season and beyond.
