Keep Congress Out of Sports Scandals

Time has come for Congress to stop wasting money and time. With the myriad other social problems in this country, why do our esteemed members of Congress insist on interviewing old baseball players and their former trainers? Why do our senators care about Spygate? There are so many other IMPORTANT issues that yearn for their attention. Rather than avoiding the serious issues that face our nation like global warming, the impending recession, our weakened economy and the thousands of troops still in the Middle East, the leaders of our country have concerned themselves with Spygate and the Steroids Scandal. The NFL and MLB have commissioners and league officials worrying about these issues. Congressmen need not waste their time.
I understand that abusing steroids is a serious problem. I do not condone it and would like to continue to educate our children and athletes on the dangers of these controlled substances. However, I dont believe that these hearings are helping that cause at all. These hearings do not convince children to stay off steroids and they have no educational value.
This petition was written by a serious baseball purist and an avid football fan. There is nothing that I would appreciate more than a level playing field for all athletes and an end to the abuse of dangerous and illegal substances. However, these issues need to be resolved by appropriate league officials and personnelnot members of Congress. We vote our representatives and senators to work on the economy of our nation, the health of our residents and the betterment of our country. We need them to expend their energy and keep their focus on these important issues.
Congressmen: Stop wasting your time and our money. Let Bud and Roger deal with these issues. You go fix our country, please!!
