Cadbury was started in 1824 by John Cadbury, not as a confectioner but selling chocolate based drinks. In 1897 they started making their delicious chocolate, it was also the year that Queen Victoria celebrated her Diamond Jubilee. Their famous Dairy Milk Chocolate was first produced in 1905.
Cadbury is steeped in tradition, it’s a name that the people of the United Kingdom are proud of. Cadbury has always cared about the well being of their staff, the family owned business was instrumental in setting new standards for working and living standards during the Victorian era.
It is clear from various online forums and debates that thousands of people are unhappy with the proposals and demand that Cadbury remains British owned. In addition there are many people who have expressed their determination to boycott Kraft foods to demonstrate their dissatisfaction. We implore the Cadbury shareholders to think very carefully before making such an irreversible decision.
We the undersigned feel strongly that Cadbury should remain as it is. We agree that a takeover by Kraft or any other organisation is not in the best interests of either the brand name, its Customers or the United Kingdom.
