We the community activist of Peachcrest ES, would like to petition that DeKalb County BOE do not close our community school, Peachcrest Elementary School. Peachcrest ES is a Title I South DeKalb County school that has progressively grown over the last few years. Peachcrest supports community-based organizations/initiatives such as Supporting Partnerships top Assure Ready Kids (SPARKS), and Families and Schools Together (FAST). We are a community school that children enjoy coming into every day to better their education, themselves and our community. We are a school that continues to focus on the education of our students- and motivate them to always reach to better themselves... Our focus is not only that if you close Peachcrest ES that this will only impact our students education but our entire community. At this time we are the only elementary school in walking distance to Peachcrest Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club. If you close our school there will be no other place for single working parents to send their children for after school care for a reasonable price. We are an AYP school, with a great teacher to student ratio, which continues to help us focus on bettering our students test scores. We have 4 pre-kindergarten classes, two classes that help to better special needs children starting at the age of 3 and 4 years old. Peachcrest School is committed to establishing relationships with businesses, organizations, churches and local politicians.
