Lansdowne Park Conservancy - Conservation Parc Lansdowne

I understand that the City of Ottawa has not signed any contracts for the development and management of Lansdowne Park.

I wish to see an open competition for the development and management of Lansdowne Park to get the best value for the taxpayer.

I understand that it only takes the City of Ottawa 90 days to run an open and competitive process.

I wish to see the 150 year public tradition of Lansdowne Park continued, and in a manner respectful of heritage, local small business, sports, arts and culture, local produce, and the park developed in a manner that keeps the park beautiful, vibrant and as a place for families and tourism.

I do not wish to see Lansdowne Park privatized with commercial towers, shopping center and private homes.

I wish to see the City of Ottawa cancel the current sole sourced process for the development of Lansdowne Park and immediately start and open process.

I understand that the City has already set the policy for the park of a Stadium, Green Space, Retail/Financial Model and a Management/Governance Model.

All of these criteria can easily be put out for tender and open competition.

An open competition will declare a winner by October 2011 which will allow plenty of time to meet the World Cup FIFA requirements for park completion of May 2014.

Taking 90 days for a competitive process will provide the Mayor and Council complete information on Lansdowne Park.

On a decision that will affect this special site for generations to come, this is the very least the Mayor and all members of Council should be willing to endorse.
