We feel that the student's career needs have been neglected due to the program's part time nature, and the assumption that graduating students would not leave their current employers. Even though the program has a very strong alumni network, it has not been used to its full potential. There have been very limited career discussions, alumni networking events, and exposure of students to job recruiters. The result of the current situation has been sinking part-time MBA rankings, low career placement of graduating students, and very few companies showing up at the job fairs, including many well known local high tech companies.
Most alumni and graduating MBA/MSIS students are very frustrated and disappointed. After spending enormous amounts of resources (time, money, effort), they are facing the above-said issues that hinder their career development and career transition.

We understand that Santa Clara University has tried hard to develop the MBA and MSIS programs into top tier level. To claim the full benefit of the MBA and MSIS programs, we respectfully submit our concerns and request the implementation of the following suggestions:
1. To actively use the alumni network as part of the career development network. Student networks should be given access to the alumni network in order for them to take a leadership position in hosting alumni networking events.
2. To combine SCU's undergraduate and graduate career centers, because the undergraduate career center already has solid business connections and has more visibility to some major companies.
3. To encourage the staff (both faculty and high level administrative) to actively seek business firms (investment banks, consulting firms, venture capital firms, etc.) for campus recruiting.
