Hi. My name is Ian Austin.
Ever since the release of the first Daredevil film in 2003, there has been talk of another film. While it is unlikely that Ben Affleck would play the role again, the rise and rise of comic-book films into a genre of their own has led to intense speculation over whether a Daredevil reboot could be a success.
The financial juggernaut that is The Dark Knight seems to suggest that audiences are fully open to a darker comic-book property, especially if it's true to the origins of the piece. As Frank Miller's work has proved an inspiration for the first two Nolan Batman films, it seems obvious that his Daredevil work could be adapted into a film that manages to please the fanbase AND prove financially viable.
But, as of yet, no reboot has been officially pegged.
So I'd like to throw my name into that.
While, to many of you, I appear to be a complete unknown... I do have some experience of writing Daredevil. Over on a message board I run called the Aurora Network, I have supervised (and written) two seasons of 'unproduced, sequential scripts' for a Daredevil virtual series (teleplay scripts that form a serialised narrative), with a third series currently in production.
It is done without the approval and authorisation of Marvel (and is non-profit), but remains faithful to the comic-book while trying to transplant the material into a new and interesting perspective.
So far, 25 episodes have been written and aired.
To this end, as mentioned, I'd like to nominate myself as a candidate to write the next Daredevil film. While the scripts above are in teleplay format, I am currently studying an MA in Scriptwriting at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth. So I am fully capable of writing in film format.
