Make Outdated Versions Of Windows Open Source

Microsoft Corporation,

I am a great fan of your software and operating systems. My family and I have used many of your products to do our work, and your services have been generally helpful for years. Of course, my operating system of choice is MS Windows.

But, I think it is time for a major change. Windows 95, 98, ME, 2000, and XP are excellent the way they are, but I would like to turn your attention to your more outdated systems -- namely Windows 3.x, 2.x, 1.x, and the early DOS shell. These were excellent OSes in their own time, and many people enjoyed them. But, they are now outdated, and I think the public would appreciate it if you redistributed these OSes as open source products.

I think this would be a great step in the software industry because:

A. Beginning OS developers would have a great base to build from.
B. DOS compatibility could be integrated into other operating systems.
C. You could make more money selling the source code.
D. Many concepts for great OS development are integrated into these older programs, making it a great education opportunity for OS developers of any level.
