"Mall of America" in Houston

Below is the letter I sent to Mayor Bill White of Houston on Feb. 18, 2006. It is in regards to a Mall of America I would like to see built in the City of Houston. The biggest mall of america is located at http://www.mallofamerica.com. Mayor Bill White did reply to me to assure that he did review the email. Professionally, I want to send him a formal petition so he can see the views of other city residents.

Hello Mayor Bill White,
I just watched a tour of the Mall of America (in Bloomington, Minnesota) on the Discovery Channel today. It just came to my mind, Houston is already the entertainment capital of the world, why don't we go ahead and have one of the largest malls ever seen? We have the Galleria and now we can make another "Mall of America" right here in Houston! You just don't know how many people and celebrities it will attract each year! We already lost Astroworld and we need another source of everyday entertainment. To tell you the truth, we don't have that many malls and Sharpstown is definitely "falling down." I'm even starting to think Houston is getting a little boring since there is nothing to REALLY entertain the crowd (such as theme park, clubs, more shops, etc...). If you take a visit at http:///www.mallofamerica.com you can see how big and wonderful that mall is. It is a mall, indoor amusement park, and more all in one building. I'm sure Houston is big enough to fit this enormous mall into an empty space.

The benefits of this mall is better exposure (which we already achieved thanks to you and the Houston celebrities), more revenue for the city, a bigger and better place to shop, a replacement for Astroworld (new entertainment venue), more visitors (out of country too), and possibly more residents. This is a very big project that I hope you will consider and pass along to all the proper executives (City Council and Simon Malls). We never had anything THIS BIG and I just hope that this dream can come true for everybody. If not another Disney World, we can have the next biggest mall in America :-).

I was hoping to reply back to Mayor Bill White with a petition and send a link to this petition to Simon Mall Executives. As you can see, I'm serious about getting a Mall of America built right here in Houston and we definitely need the added entertainment. Your signature to the petition is definitely appreciated and I hope you will approve to my ideas. Please sign ASAP as I plan to send this petition once it has reached a considerable amount of signatures.
