The recently passed policy of Machinima with Microsoft games has been released, however most of the policies somewhat contradict themselves. This petition is to replace the old policy with the one below:
1) Reverse engineering and game modification.
- You may NOT reverse engineer, or modify any Microsoft game not specifically designed to be altered by the user to create your items.
2) Item Content.
- You may NOT use game content to create pornographic items, or items that contain racism, hateful speech, libel or slander.
3) Posting on sites.
- You may NOT make any income whatsoever from your items. This includes the following:
1) Posting your items on a site that requires a paid subscription.
2) Posting your items with the intent to sell them or their story line.
4) Hosting site's content.
- You may NOT post your items on a site that violates the second (2) clause of your item's content.
- You MAY have advertisements on the hosting site.
- You MAY have a donation on the hosting site as long as it has absolutely nothing to do with your items.
5) Contests.
- You may NOT use your items to enter a contest that has a cash or item giveaway. Your items must NOT be used to enter a contest that has a reward of any cash value.
6) Audio.
- You may NOT use any songs or tracks used in the game. However you MAY use the game's sound effects in your items. These sound effects include, but are not limited to; gun shots, ambiance, vehicle noises, and others of the same context.
7) IP Rights
- You may NOT infringe anyoneвs IP rights in your Item, even if the IP rights being infringed donвt belong to Microsoft. Among other things that means you canвt use any of Microsoftвs trademarked logos or names except in the ways described in the pages linked from www.microsoft.com/trademarks.
8) Storyboard Leaking and Expansion
- You may NOT add to the game universe or expand on the story told in the game with вlost chaptersв or back story or anything like that.
9) Storyboard Sales and Rights
- You may NOT grant anyone the right to build on your creations. We donвt mind if other people help you out, but you have to be clear with them that itвs not you giving permission, itвs us. (Thatвs how we make sure everyone plays by the same rules.)
