Minimum Competitive Playing Time Requirements in School Sports

As an example: in a timed sport of 40 minutes, a player would compete for a minimum of 5 minutes. The goal for athletes is to compete and If a student displays skills that cause the coach or coaches to include him or her as a member of the program then we believe that student should compete at least a minimum amount of time in each contest or game.
Every coach would have the same requirements to get all the members of the team into the contest for a minimum amount of time. This requirement would help insure that coaches develop all the student athletes on the team because all the athletes will compete.
By doing this, competition for more playing time will increase within the team, helping players develop and reach their maximum potential.
Those athletes chosen for a team that participate in practice only, do not experience competitive game situations and are denied their opportunity to grow and improve. Their hard work and dedication in practice should earn the athletes a minimum amount of competitive playing time to compete and display their skills.
