We residents of Monroe County, New York, hereby petition the Monroe County, New York Board of Elections and County Legislature to adopt hand-marked paper ballots tallied by precinct-based optical scanners (PBOS) for our elections. PBOS is already used by one-third of American voters and is the most secure, reliable, auditable, and cost-effective voting system. Further, we urge the use of a paper ballot marking device (one is now federally certified) to make paper ballots accessible to disabled voters. This way ALL voters - whether disabled, military, absentee, or in-precinct - can use the same ballot.
