New York School Teen Dating Violence

Enact a law within the State of New York mandating the following:


Petition is for the education of middle school, jr high school, and high school teens on teen dating violence, educating teens on abusive relationships, bringing awareness to the issues of dating violence, preventing dating violence, and providing resources to teens to escape and prevent dating violence situations. Also in the petition will be the assistance of school counselors to provide (crisis) help to any teen experiencing violent dating relationships. These services are to become mandatory in every school by 2010.

The petition will also allow teens 'escaping' abusive relationships to receive restraining orders easier then the average public version of a restraining order as most filings of restraining orders require multiple incidents in order for a restraining order to be issued and seen by a judge.

Filing restraining orders under this new Teen Dating Violence law will cost the victim $0.00 dollars and will include the filing, court appearances, and /or use of a lawyer for any and all court appearances, along with the serving of the restraining order paperwork against the abuser/defendant.

Schools will be solely responsible for educating the teens in school during normal school hours, and the education these teens receive will apply as a normal school class earning the students 1/2 - 1 credit per class. This class is to be taught under the HEALTH class.

This new law will also mandate that parents are notified if a teen admits to being abused by their boyfriend and/or girlfriend.

This law also protects and covers Lesbian and Gay couples.

Educational products can be supplied to the teens through the school.

Some states have laws where in schools they have a bullying policy in education and a harassment policy as well, so its only natural that we have a law requiring dating violence education to complete the violence package.

This law is to go into effect before or by 2010 in all middle schools, jr high schools, and high schools throughout the State of New York.
