Nickelodeon: We want the Classic Shows Back!

We, the undersigned, are writing to you on behalf of the thousands of fans who want the old nickelodeon shows back. Many people stopped watching Nick after these shows went off the air, and believe that your ratings would go up if you showed the reruns of those shows again. Remember, Nickelodeon's ratings were near to zero when it first started. Adding the good shows that are now long gone sent your ratings skyrocketing. We used to grow up watching Nickelodeon every day. Many would come home to watch my favorite shows like Double Dare, and Hey Dude! But now, We see shows like Catdog, and As Told By Ginger, of which dont seem to fill that empty gap left in people after the good shows were cancelled.

Here is a list of the shows that we feel should have its reruns re aired on Nick (the main network, not Nick GAS, or The-N). (Shows that arent showed anymore).

That is alot of shows. Re airing these shows could help you get more viewers, better ratings, and possible more income. Here are some suggestions for bringing back the old shows if they are to ever make a return to the light of day:

1) Weekend marathons

Every 2 weeks, you could show a three-hour marathon of some of the classic shows. (IE: Hey Dude one weekend, then two weeks later, show a marathon of Salute your Shorts, etc)

2) New TV channel

Create a channel that would only show old Nickelodeon shows & game shows 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This channel would be available to cable, digital cable, & satellite users, so even if you couldn't afford cable or satellite, you could still get the network.

3) DVD/VHS Tape releases

Release all the episodes of the classic shows on a 3 or 4 DVD disk set, or 10 VHS tape set for retail sale.

4) Use the Nick on CBS timeframe as a "Classic Nickelodeon" base

Everybody knows that the "Nick on CBS" timeframe only has 6 shows, to lengthen it an extra hour, you could add an hours worth of classic shows. This will start to show the fans that want the classic nick shows that Nick is really the first kids network.

At this time, thousands showed that they want the old shows back by signing online petitions, and making message boards all over the Internet based on this topic. (I lost count past 15,000) You guys show some of these shows on GAS and on Noggin, but those are channels that you can only get if you have satellite or digital cable. Not everybody has that, or can afford it. The bottom line is that people want the classic shows back on the air. Fans want them, I want them, without these shows, Nickelodeon isnt Nickelodeon. Nickelodeon used to be entertaining for all ages too, but it recently became a channel of which only younger kids like, a channel that became boring and lonesome. You guys will be loosing to your rivals at Cartoon Network, and what once shown as a bright star in the sky will burn out! You guys are already canceling all the other shows that are on (like Invader Zim). Cant we come to some kind of compromise before everybody ends up boycotting Nickelodeon? (Believe me that would be very bad) Think about all the teenaged kids who used to watch these shows and really miss them, think about people who are now adults who used to watch Pinwheel, and You Cant Do That on Television back in Nickelodeons very early days. I, the author of the petition have also come up with a schedule of TV programming (you were at one point head of programming, if Im correct) that would include all the shows, new and old, in a marathon format. This is how it would follow:

- Get Smart
- Cosby Show
- Kids Say the Darndest Thing
- Facts of Life
- Brady Bunch
- I Love Lucy
- Kids Say the Darndest Thing
- Happy Days

6:00 AM - 9:30 AM

Classic Nickelodeon Block {Hey Dude, Salute your Shorts, Welcome Freshmen, Pete & Pete, Space Cases, ETC}

9:30 AM - 1:00 PM

Nick Junior

- Classic Nick Junior shows, such as Eureekas Castle, Allegras Window, Muppet Babies, and Little Bear, as well as the more modern ones, such as Blues Clues, Oswald, and Bob the Builder.

1:00 - 3:00

Like said before, this would incorporate ALL the shows that nickelodeon has on now, with the classic shows, and would satisfy the modern nickelodeon watchers and us. This would also save money because you wouldnt have to waste money with extra channels for the old shows that not every Nickelodeon fan can get. Pleasem at least try to compromise with the fans, without making them sadder,and madder. You have the links, and the totals. Add them up, and you will see the time is right, and the demand is high. Please make the right choice, and think of the people who watched these shows when they were kids. The fate of a great network is in your hands. Please do the right thing.
