Nintendo's Friend Code System: Give us the Choice

All that we ask here can be summarized in two words: freedom and choice.
We, as consumers, and as owners of a Nintendo Wii console, should be able to choose whether or not we desire to play with strangers. Instead of the "Friend Code" code system, parental controls can be implemented, which would allow concerned parents block online communication with strangers online for their children. However, we should have the freedom to unblock and play with whomever has a game and is willing to play.
This generation of consoles is all about online gaming. "Friend Codes" truly inhibit the whole experierence that online gaming should be about.
Nintendo's competitor, Microsoft, has had an online system with the Xbox (and Xbox 360) which we, as gamers faithful to Nintendo over the years, envy.
In conclusion, we would like games which have online compability to give us, gamers and Nintendo Wii owners, the ability and opportunity to play with anyone who has the same game, no matter where in the world they are, without any restrictions regarding any sort of "codes", which would have to be registered in the gamers' lists in the consoles. Let this "code" system be replaced by one which has the option of blocking online communication with strangers, but in the end, and most importantly, give us that choice.
