No Kill Lehigh Valley

We believe that an animal shelter should be accountable to the people in the community. People support these institutions financially. They have the right to know what is done with their money. We believe that people send money to animal shelters because they want them to save animals, not kill them.
The last killing shelter in the Lehigh Valley community is the Lehigh County Humane Society (LCHS). Reliable sources tell us that they kill approximately 5 out of every 6 animals that they take in. At the same time they have over $2 million in reserves. They repeatedly refuse to cooperate in efforts which would increase adoptions and save lives. They do not spay or neuter every animal that they adopt out and they do not make any real low cost spay/neuter program available to the segment of the public that most needs it - low income inner city people. They do not conduct T/N/R programs. They do not participate in offsite adoption programs. They do not cooperate with rescues. Their evening and weekend hours are very limited.
We want the LCHS to adopt the programs of the No Kill Equation. If the current administration is unwilling or unable to do so, we want them to step down and allow people to take over who can make this happen. No animal should have to die just because it's homeless.
