No Mandatory All-Day Kindergarten

The Kansas Legislature is considering making all-day kindergarten mandatory. This a great opportunity for children who may otherwise be in day care for the remainder of the school day, but it may not be a good option for children who have not had daily all day care previously. Smooth, effective transitions are paramount to positive first experiences with formal education. For some children, all-day kindergarten would make the transition from pre-kindergarten to kindergarten very difficult.
