Nominate Austin Mardon for an MBE

I support the petition to nominate Austin Mardon for an MBE for his academic success and community service, with the hope of dispelling the beliefs that people who experience serious mental illness are associated with uncontrollable violence, an impossibility of recovery and contribute nothing to society.

Austin Mardon is a Canadian professor, an internationally recognised academic and an experienced polar explorer. Mardon tirelessly works to help others with schizophrenia and serious mental illness. He also campaigns for their humane treatment which has brought him recognition in Canada as a champion of the anti-stigmatisation movement - all this despite being diagnosed with schizophrenia 14 years ago.
