We, the people of Marin here represented, respectfully and strongly express our support for the reinstatement of the stone labyrinth that has for many years provided a landmark, public meeting place, sacred space and object of natural beauty at the top of the Oak Manor fire road, in Marin's Open Space land.
This is a very important local cultural landmark, greatly valued by many local citizens, and its destruction by Marin County Open Space District (MCOSD) employees without public consent or review is does not represent responsible land stewardship. We honor all parties involved, and their respective needs and concerns. As citizens of Marin, and stakeholders in public lands, we express our strong support for the labyrinth and its contribution to quality of life in Marin. We request that the labyrinth be allowed to be restored immediately.
(Note: The Marin County Open Space District (MCOSD) is the local government agency responsible for preserving public open space in Marin County, California. The MCOSD website states: "Our mission is to enhance the quality of life in Marin through the acquisition, protection, and responsible stewardship of ridgelands, baylands and environmentally sensitive lands targeted for preservation in the Marin Countywide Plan.")
