Open an Urban Outfitters in Indianapolis

The purpose of this petition is to express the desire of consumers in the Indianapolis, Indiana area in having Urban Outfitters (UO) locate a store in our city.

Indianapolis Size
According to the 2000 Census, Indianapolis has a population listed as 791,926, making it the 12th largest city in the United States and the third largest city in the Midwest, behind Chicago, Illinois, which has four Urban Outfitters locations, and Columbus, Ohio, home to one store.

According to an article about UO (http://www.wallst.net/editorials/article.asp?id=254),
the Urban Outfitters chain focuses on the 18-26 year-old mate and date demographic. While these may be the main demographic target, many of UOs most loyal customers continue shopping later into their twenties and into their thirties.

The relevant age distribution of Indianapolis has 25.7\% of the population under the age of 18, 10.2\% from 18 to 24, and 32.9\% from 25 to 44. While only ten percent of the population is in the core demographic, Indianapolis is a young city and more than one-quarter of the population has yet to enter UOs core demo so there is definite room for growth and longevity.

The median income for a household in the balance is $41,964, and the median income for a family is $48,755. Males have a median income of $36,302 versus $27,738 for females. Combine these median income levels with Indianapolis relatively low cost-of-living and residents of Indianapolis generally have a higher percentage of disposable income to spend.

It is for the aforementioned reasons, and a strong desire by the undersigned to shop at an Urban Outfitters retail store in Indianapolis, that we petition Urban Outfitters, Inc. to open a retail store in the city of Indianapolis.
