Paris Hilton released? Sheriff Baca I want my vote back!

Today, 6/7/07, to my outrage and the outrage of those Ive spoken to, Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca released Paris Hilton after serving apx. 72 hours of her 23 day sentence. (Originally Ms. Hilton was sentenced to 45 days)

It appears Ms. Hilton developed a medical condition and this is what Sheriff Baca formed his decision. Its more then fair to say this is more then preferential treatment for the heiress and its also fair to say you or I would expect to serve 70 to 80\% of a similar sentence. Instead, Ms. Hilton will serve out her sentence on house arrest in her plush Hollywood Hills home.

Its irresponsible law enforcement practice period and it seems L.A. County District Attorney Rocky Delgadillo agrees. (Mr. Delgadillo prosecuted Ms. Hilton)

Los Angeles City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo reacted angrily, saying he was "concerned that the judicial process may have been improperly circumvented in this case" and calling on his office to conduct an inquiry.

He continued, "Los Angeles County jail medical facilities are well-equipped to deal with medical situations involving inmates," he said, adding: "I have directed my criminal branch to immediately explore all possible legal options to ensure that the law is being applied equally and justly in this case."

If Sheriff Baca is afraid to punish the heiress, then he should be! How can the average citizen respect the law when one of the most powerful law enforcement officials in our state abuses his power?

I am calling on other outraged Californians to help me obtain the immediate resignation or dismissal of Sheriff Baca. This double standard shouldnt exist in our law enforcement community! If it were you or me or any other member of the general public we would still be jail for the next couple of weeks with or without a medical condition!
