Petition for a legal place for Motorsport enthusiasts to go.
Please note: This petition is for everyone concerned about burnouts and hooning as they call it as it affects many. Residents sick of hoons are very welcome to sign as well. This is not just for burnouts but also ANY form of motorsport that needs a place to go such as dirt bikes, motorcycles, drifters.
You will see from the petition that the majority of car enthusiasts are just that. They have a passion for cars and motorsport. They are not criminals.
Johnny, Cherie and the rest of the Revmasters team have been trying to achieve the goal of getting hoons off the street and onto the track for years now. They had a place to perform this and was popular but it was unfortunately closed down in Dec 2007 leaving many with no where to go. This is no excuse for people to use the street but it left some feeling they had no choice. This endangers lives, annoys police and residents.
Chop (former hooner) says The funny part is everyone wants the same outcome.
1. Residents want hoons off their streets.
2. Police want the hooning and dangerous street activities to stop.
3. And finally, ironically most hoons want the same a place to go to perform legally in a legitimate motorsport.
So what do we need to solve the problem and make everyone happy? A place to go. Thats it! Just a place to go.
We all want the same thing and one way to achieve it.
Revmasters point out since losing our Regular meeting place at the Archerfield Speedway, in Dec 2007:
Revmaster's have been working on finding a more suitable and permanent solution.
One which caters for the needs of Burnout enthusiasts and participants. From the everyday Stock Street car, to the highly Modified Supercharged V8 Street Machines.
The numbers at the "Illegals" on any given Saturday night have grown & grown.
It's hard to name an Industrial Estate on the Southside of Brisbane
that isn't a Burnout Pad on a late Saturday night. & it would be the same on the North Side. This is also the same with Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast.
It really is no surprise, with the closure of the Broadwater Car Park,
Combined with the end of regular LEGAL Comps at Revmaster's Archerfield.
So What Do We Do About It!
Lets look at how Illegal Street Sports have become legitimized, once organised with it's own parks & Venues.
Local Councils reacted to the BMX & Skateboard craze in the 80's
by building skate & Bike Parks, complete with great facilities & Amenities for the public to use. From this support grow Australian & World Champions in these sports. You can now achieve a Gold Medal at the Planet X Games in the these sports which were once condemned due to their use of public places & Streets.
Motorbike Riders & Horse Riders faced the same dilemma but with an added
twist. Pony Clubs & Motorbike Parks felt the increasing impact of
urban Sprawl. Combined with Noise, Dust & Rising Insurance Costs the result has seen many close completely.
Australia has a proudly produced world champions in these areas for many years. Home grown Talent, who go onto international success.
Now lets look at amateur Motorsport, and yes Burnouts are a sport.
Awesome for Tourism & the local economy. Some other Armature Motorsports in Australia include Go Karting, Hill Climbing, Mud Racing, Tractor Racing, Rally Driving, Drifting & I know it's in a Boat but how good are those V8 Jet Boats.
Revmasters Events are deep into the planning of a newly designated Motorsport Precinct. We are starting from scratch, building a New World Class Venue. A multipurpose Venue to cater for the hard to place dusty & Noisy motorsports which we enjoy.
But we need your support, wether it be by signing our partitions or by pledging your trade or services to help with the building Costs.
So wether you are a resident, member of parliament, law enforcement official, emergency services officer or motor enthusiast, PLEASE sign the petition to help find a suitable safe place to go.
If you would like to help in the organisation with planning etc.
