Petition the CRTC to Investigate the Benefits (and Implementation) of Providing $25/month Universal Internet Access for All Canadians

"Cable and satellite providers must provide skinny basic packages priced at $25 a month to every consumer by March 1, 2016, the CRTC says."**

"The CRTC ruled last year that consumers should have access to more choice in their cable and satellite packages as well as cheaper basic packages. This is the first announcement of the deadlines for those changes."**

As the importance of digtial information, communication, and transmission of data become ever more important in the First World Canada would be wise to invest money into infrastructure and development to assist Internet Service Providers in providing all Canadians internet access for a basic fee of $25/month.

The CRTC has already ruled that cable and satellite service providers must do the same and offer a slim or skinny cable package to all subscribers current and new by March 1st, 2016.

The aim of this petition is to reach a 1 000 signature goal to spur into action the CRTC to investigate the obvious benefits to the future of Canadians who will be able to reliably access information without having to pay $60.00-$100.00/month.

There has been a shift away from cable television over the last five years^^ and the offering of a basic cable monthly package may be nothing but a ploy to try and win back lost customers. As the result of the loss of cable subscriptions advertising spending for the internet has seen a steep increase; now surpassing spending for broadcast and cable television. ``

Canadian consumers are ditching cable for internet en masse. Let's make sure we all have the ability to access it for $25/month.
