Petition to the President of India (Bharat) to change the name of our country officially from 'India' to 'Bharat' for all purposes.
Respected Mr. President,
We have successfully revived the original names of our leading cities such as Chennai, Mumbai and Kolkata, because the names given by the british did not resonate with the people living there.
However, on a global level, we still carry on calling ourselves 'India', in spite of implicitly calling ourselves 'Bharat' in official catchphrases such as 'Mera Bharat Mahan'. on a global level, the 'Indians' are left without a distinct identity, as the north American natives are also called 'Indians'.
After 64 years of independent political existence, there is no need for a self-respecting and self-sufficient country such as ours, to carry on a misnomer forced by our rulers in the past.
Let us show the world our true identity and proudly call our country 'Bharat'.
We request you to do the needful to achieve this objective, which resonates with all the fellow countrymen, and against which there are no valid points at all.
