Plea for Barbados to Respect Caribbean Flight

History(Prologue):



Freundel Stuart and the Cabinet of Barbados agreed in April 2010 to allow REDjet via Airone Ventures to ply the airways of the West Indies as a designated Barbados Carrier (a signed letter was issued to REDjet's parent company of which they retain a copy extant), now REDjet has permission from St Kitts, St Maarten, St Lucia and other islands to ply their trade.


Yet the International Transport Minister of B'dos, George Hutson. was quoted by the print media {PRINT EDITION - DAILY NATION: Back Page 11/10/2011} as saying REDjet was to fly on the 'big ticket' routes only since "when REDjet came in there was no talk of going into the islands", it seems the said minister is trying to hold up for LIAT - another carrier Barbados poured money into, it appears like a conflict of interests to deny rights to a Barbadian designate-Carrier especially when certain routes are no longer covered?



Barbados makes more money through Intra-Regional Travel & Trade by 53\% than with its International neighbours, and when one examines the Revised Treaty of Chaguaramas and its sections 6 & 7 one can see they are clearly in breach and we the Undersigned think that Freundel Stuart's regime has made the wrong decision (ironic when the same Stuart spoke with Trinidad & Jamaica at a Caricom Heads of Gov't Summit over their protectionist stance for Caribbean Airlines/CAL).
