Please help us keep Jordan in Virginia

We, the undersigned, hereby declare that we are dismayed with the way the Roanoke County Court system recently handled a child custody case.

On Friday February 18, 2011 at 13:00 hours, Judge Hon. Philip Trompeter, Presiding Judge in Roanoke County Court system decided that Francis Revis Hepensteel should have physical custody of Jordan Bowyer and gave her permission to relocate with him to Montana. That is 1,900 miles away and a 30-hour drive from EVERYTHING that child has ever known.

Cody Bowyer is the father of Jordan Bowyer

Francis Hepensteel is the mother of 3 children Dominic - about 8, father unknown. Jordan 4 father Cody Bowyer. And Tristan 2 father Levi Hepensteel.

Vicky and Steve Bowyer are the prenatal grandparents.

Charlene (last name unknown) is the maternal grandmother.

Cody Bowyer is the father of Jordan Bowyer and has had physical custody of him since he was 2 years old. Jordan has lived with Cody for 3 years. Jordan has his grandparents, 2 aunts, 5 nieces and nephews, at least 15 cousins, 3 great grandparents, 10 great aunts and uncles and his cat, that he is all very close to. He loves where he lives in the country with plenty of space to play and be safe. The neighborhood kids always come to play with Jordan and he loves it. He is enrolled in school and was ready to start in August at Stewartsville Elementary.

Jordans Mother has been there very little in Jordans life and it is because she puts men before her children. She has 3 kids with 3 different men and has decided to move to Montana to be with her mother, Charlene, because she feels threatened by her youngest sons father, whom is currently in jail.

Jordan does not want to go because he is old enough to understand and has said he wants to be with his daddy.

Jordan does not know Francess mom, Charlene, because she decided to leave when Jordan was young and has not tried to contact him or have a relationship with him. Vicky and Cody are always sending letters and pictures to her mother, Charlene and Dominic from Jordan, and they never reply.

Moving Jordan to Montana is like sending him to live with strangers. We do understand that he needs to get to know them, but he has much more family here that he is close with than he does in Montana.

Isnt it bad to move a 4 year old that far away with people he doesnt know and away from everything he does know?? He will be traumatized.

Please help us keep Jordan in Virginia.

It isnt anyones fault but theirs as to why they havent had a relationship with him. And Its not Jordan or Codys fault that Francis feels threatened by Levi and she feels the need to move 1,900 miles away. Its her fault. Why should Cody and Jordan have to pay??

We love this kid with all of our heart and he is perfectly happy living with us in Virginia.
