Removal or Opacity Change of Current TV/Broadcast Logos

As the push for digital and high definition broadcasting grows, so does the amount of home users purchasing home theater equipment not limited to, but including plasma screen monitors, RPTVs, CRT Projectors, and other burn-in sensitive viewing technologies. These viewing units showcase the current HDTV being offered via both digital cable and satellite companies.

Current broadcasts on todays televisions sets are laden with network logos, often displayed in the lower right hand side of the screen. Hours of viewing television with such logos can cause burn-in to the above listed units. Burn-in is irreversible damage to the home theater equipment, which causes a ghost of the logo to be seen whenever the unit is powered up.

Because of the inherit danger of viewing current broadcasts with network logos on the HDTV ready units as described above, many viewers are finding themselves watching less television, changing networks often in an attempt to dodge having a logo on screen for extended periods of time, or simply not viewing networks who's logos are largest and brightest. It is confirmed that the opacity of the logo directly effects the length it can be on screen before burn-in occurs.

The solution to this problem?

a) flash logos at the beginning of programs or during programs for short periods of time (60 seconds or less)
b) drop logo opacity to be transparent
c) remove logo entirely from programming; instead use traditional brand and logo placement during commercial breaks

Please sign this petition so we can bring our voice to the network stations, and let them realize their logos are redundant, useless, and are simply causing their current viewers and viewers to come to avoid their station(s) and programming.
