Rename the Wii- Continue the Revolution

The name Revolution carries with it a certain connotation of strength and change, which is certainly present in a console showcasing a new and exciting control style that could literally revolutionize the gaming industry. The term carries even more weight in American society, where it is most commonly linked with the events of the American Revolution, and the creation of that nation.
On the other hand, Wii produces few positive images, despite Nintendos goal of emphasizing the multiplayer potential inherent in their intuitive controller. In fact, in the American vernacular, one of the terms homonyms, wee, is used to refer to urine and the male genitalia. Because this homonym is a noun, distinction must be made in conversation to indicate that it is a Nintendo product, and not a body part, in question. This burdens conversation, and still does not entirely eliminate puns at Nintendos expense. Even shortening the name from Nintendo Wii to N Wii is undesirable, because, as it has been noted on the internet, this term can be confused with the word ennui, which is defined by dictionary.com as Listlessness and dissatisfaction resulting from lack of interest; boredom, the complete opposite message as that Nintendo is trying to put forth.
Therefore, although the many individuals loyal to Nintendos products are still willing to purchase the companys latest system, Nintendos chosen title makes it increasingly difficult for the members of its fanbase to spread information about the console in America and other predominantly English-speaking countries. Furthermore, the simple change from the strong term Revolution to the questionable Wii has been enough to upset many in the gaming community, as can be seen on major gaming websites all across the internet. The apparent outcome is that Nintendo will lose sales to its competitors because people stop paying attention to the product shortly after hearing its name. As many Nintendo loyalists will testify, there are many close-minded people who refused to try the Gamecube because of its supposedly childish content. They do not need another reason to avoid Nintendos latest system. That is why the term Revolution has been so well received- it evokes enough interest in a person to merit another look at the system, at which point the system itself makes the sale. The term Wii evokes the exact opposite response, allowing potential buyers to ignore this magnificent product altogether.
So it is the wish of the undersigned that Nintendo consider changing the name of its newest console from the chosen Wii to a more appropriate title, which may be but is not required to be the previous project name, Revolution. While we believe that Revolution is an extremely apt moniker due to Nintendos stated project goals, it is our main concern that Nintendo considers a new name and the connotative repercussions it would hold in the companys various target areas. In fact, alternate name suggestions may be found in the comments left by individual signers, although no suggestion found in said comments bears the endorsement of the undersigned as a whole.
In addition, it is the suggestion of the writer that the undersigned refuse to call the Nintendo Wii by that name, and continue to use the project term Revolution when referring to Nintendos incoming system for the following reasons: to show support for this petition, and to minimize the negative effects that the title Wii are having on the publics expectancy for this potentially amazing product, which the undersigned do not want to fail- to the contrary, we hope that this system prospers and allows a whole new generation of gamers to experience the creativity Nintendo has embodied since the release of the NES.
