Restore Foreign Language Channels to Basic Cable in The Bahamas

In a letter addressed to its customers, Cable Bahamas Ltd., announced some exciting changes in basic cable services enabling customers to find exactly what you want.
These changes, effectuated without a survey being done to clients have resulted in ALL foreign language channels being eliminated from the basic package, thus alienating many customers who only subscribed to the network in order to view these channels.
It also eliminated all possibility of Bahamian youth to have contact with cultures and languages that are not North American unless they were willing to buy a box that they did not need beforehand to view these channels.
As Cable Bahamas Ltd. has the monopoly on cable television in the Bahamas, it did not see the need to consult clients before making such decisions.
1. Please join us in requesting that Cable Bahamas Ltd. restore the French (TV5), German (DW) and Spanish (Telemundo) channels to basic cable television.
2. If this is not possible for technical reasons, please join us in requesting that Cable Bahamas Ltd. supply, free of charge, to all customers who had contracted for basic cable the necessary equipment enabling them to continue receiving the channels for which they paid.
3. In the event that this petition is ignored by Cable Bahamas Ltd., please join us in terminating all business with the aforementioned until further action may be envisioned.

As a teacher of foreign languages at COB, I recommended to my students that they watch TV5 or Telemundo to learn about the cultures whose languages they are studying. These channels have been an invaluable tool for listening and comprehension assignments.
