The Faculty of Health and Social Care at London Southbank University are proposing options to close the Physiotherapy department before the completion of the students’ degree award.
LSBU has a reputation for producing high calibre physiotherapy graduates who are desirable to employers. The impact of cutting this course earlier than planned will lead to many of the students being unable to complete their degree and needless redundancy of the physiotherapy staff. It will be disruptive to the students and their future careers, devastating for the staff and damaging to LSBU’s reputation.
LSBU has recently invested millions of pounds in brand new, state-of-the-art physiotherapy labs, which opened in 2010. Furthermore, the loss of income from fees, the cost of staff redundancy and the compensation paid to students has been estimated to run into millions of pounds.
The termination of this course before its natural end is not cost effective, nor is it the interests of any of the parties concerned.
Please sign our petition to support the retention of the BSc Physiotherapy course until the last student has completed their award.
