Rezoning Asian Media Access' Media Arts/Community Center

We, the undersigned, are endorsing this petition to exhibit our communitys solidarity and support for the rezoning of Asian Media Access facility (2418 Plymouth Avenue North, Minneapolis, MN 55411) from Residential Zoning (R1A) to Commercial Zoning (C) or other appropriate zoning district to allow Asian Media Access full implementation of its media arts, media and technology-based programs and services to help the under-served, under-represented and under-privileged members of our community.

Established in 1992, Asian Media Access is a community-based organization dedicated to using media arts and communication technologies for social betterment. The mission of Asian Media Access is to connect the disconnected. Asian Media Access recognizes that media arts, media and technology are essential tools for education and communication. Therefore, Asian Media Access effectively utilizes these different tools to enrich lives, especially in the Asian & Pacific Islander communities with high concentrations of immigrant and refugee populations. Asian Media Access has a solid track record in innovation and leadership of media arts education, Internet technology communications, media strategies, employment training and health/human services.

We urge you, Council member Don Samuels, the Department of Community Planning and Economic Development and the City of Minneapolis, to consider and approve our request for Asian Media Access to be granted an appropriate Zoning District to operate fully as a media arts complex and community center so that we may continue bettering the lives of residents in the Twin Cities, especially in North Minneapolis.
