Right on Red in Montreal

We, the undersigned, want to see right turns on red lights (RTOR) legalized on the Island of Montreal.

Legalizing RTOR reduces the amount of pollution released into the atmosphere by getting rid of unnecessary engine idling.
Motor vehicles contribute more than 50\% of carbon monoxide pollution in North America.
As an added benefit, RTOR also leads to lower gasoline expenditure (average reduction = $130/year) and greater convenience for motorists.
With the exception of New York City and Montreal, all other cities in North America have legalized RTOR.
A study undertaken by the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration found that RTOR crashes represent a very small proportion of the total number of traffic crashes (0.05\%).
The same study concluded: there are a relatively small number of deaths and injuries each year caused by right-turn-on-red crashes. These represent a very small percentage of all crashes, deaths, and injuries. Because the number of crashes due to right-turn-on-red is small, the impact on traffic safety, therefore, has also been small.
