Right to breathe fresh air free from neighbours second hand smoke

We all have a right to breathe clean air but families and children throughout Australia currently dont have this right... Second hand cigarette smoke from neighbours is impacting on the health of families and children in many ways. With urbanisation we are all living closer together with only walls, fences or small yard spaces that separate us. Second hand cigarette smoke impacts neighboring families in these ways : - Children playing in the yard breathing in toxic smoke - Children asked to go inside when smelling smoke - outdoor play restricted - Doors and windows open for ventilation collect smoke drift inside the house - When closing windows and doors smoke drift is trapped polluting the interior - On warm nights when opening doors and windows to cool the house, smoke drift fills the home, when closing doors and windows traps hot, polluted air inside - Unable to eat breakfasts, lunch & dinners outdoors of the home without smoke filling the air around the table - Clothes drying outdoors each day are filled with cigarette smoke that remains in the clothing until washed - Smoke aggravates asthma and respiratory infections - We know through documentation that breathing second hand smoke causes lung damage and ultimately cancers It is well documented that second hand smoke causes many illnesses including asthma, respiratory illness, cardiovascular disease and cancers... We need your support to show the Government that families want the right to breathe clean air in their home environment. - That it is NOT ok that neighbours are permitted to pollute the homes of families that are trying to give their children a healthy start to life. - That is is NOT ok that neighbours choose to delibertaly compromise the health of others. - That is is NOT ok that we don't have the legal right to clean air in own own homes. - That it is NOT ok that we don't have the ability to legally protect our health and the health of our children from the actions of others. This issue may not directly affect you at this time....but is is affecting families and children throughout Australia this very moment. We would greatly appreciate your support in showing the Australian Government that you believe we all have a right to breathe clean air and that necessary legal changes need to be made to ensure that the way neighbours choose to live does not impact on others health.
