We would petition the Department of Education to extend the school day by thirty minutes either side of class-time. This would allow a greater window of opportunity for parents to drop-off/pick-up their children, thereby reducing traffic volume and increasing safety around the school on a minute by minute basis.
Teachers would be responsible for supervision of this extra time on a rota basis, but for no extra remuneration. The budget is strained enough as it is, with little money for building and maintenence, and salaries/pensions accounting for over 80%; a connection teachers bemoaning conditions fail to grasp.
