Freeville school leads in many ways. We are leaders in terms of restorative practices. We lead in team teaching. We have the learning studio pilot project that leads in innovative building design. Our Teachers present at conferences and run workshops for other schools, sharing our ideas and the way we do things at Freeville and our bilingual programme is the only one in the North East of Christchurch.
Shaken to our core by the quakes, Freeville have been heroic in offering our kids something to hold on to; something familiar and reassuring. The school has provided security, stability and a fun place to be each day. It has given our children their own place in the world!
Freeville School is the hub of our community. It is perfect, just the way it is. As a battered and traumatised community where our school has been everything we don't want it snatched away with no reason given other than some loose generalisations about the necessity for change.
