Your Excellency,
We, the undersigned, would like to express our concern for the safety of Nahid Kalhor who is arrested at put in to Qoms detention center on 31 May 2008.
Hereby we are asking for clarification of the reasons for her arrest, including any charges against her, which should be made public and communicated to her and her lawyer without delay.
We want to call for her to be on trial promptly and fairly, in accordance with international fair trial standards, on recognizably criminal charges or else released if she is not to be charged with a recognizably criminal offence.
Furthermore we want to call for her to be granted immediate and unconditional access to her lawyer, family members, and any medical treatment she may require.
At last we want to seek assurances that she is not being tortured or ill treated in detention. (According to article 38 of the constitution of Iran: "All forms of torture for the purpose of extracting confession or acquiring information are forbidden," also, Iran is a state party to the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR), of which Article 7 states that "No one shall be subjected to cruel, inhuman or degrading punishment".)
We are confident of your good will and the measures you will take in this case.
