Save Philosophy MWSU

1-a/ This petition is for the students and faculty, at Midwestern State University, and residents of Wichita Falls, Texas, who feel the Philosophy program needs, and should be, expanded. Because M.W.S.U. does not have a larger program, many Philosophy students must turn else where to receive bachelors, masters, or a Ph.D in said area. This is due to a lack of a philosophy major, course offerings, and staff in this department, being that one professor is the sole department.

2-a/ The requests of this petition are as stated below:

1. More philosophy faculty:
a:For the short-term; two or more part-time instructors to help reduce class sizes and expand course offerings.
b:For the long-term; one or more full-time, tenure-track professors in order to bring about (2), (3), (4), and (5).
2. Smaller philosophy class sizes to facilitate "Socratic dialogue".
3. Expanded philosophy course offerings.
4. A philosophy MAJOR.
5. AN INDEPENDENT PHILOSOPHY DEPARTMENT.

3-a/ By signing this petition, you support the request stated above to aid the department and better benefit the Philosophy students at Midwestern State University. In order to help Midwestern State University diversify and grow, these actions must be taken.
