Save Taylor's Cafй Bar, Watford

Taylors Cafй Bar is due to close in January 2007 when a faceless corporation plans to tear the very walls down from around our ears.

Taylors Bar is one of the only establishments in Watford with a sense of culture Taylors has it's very own community spirit and is one of the most vibrant, interactive and relaxed places in Watford, affording local musicians, artists and writers the chance to showcase their work on a regular basis.

Taylors Bar is a focal point for the local creative community and is an alternative for those who are looking for something more than what is offered in the theme bars of the cafй quarter of Watford town centre. Even on the busiest of nights, Taylors Bar can be near maximum capacity and require no door staff to moderate customer entrance this is reflective of the community and atmosphere of the establishment. This can be said of very few town centre establishments.

Over the last year, Taylors Bar has grown a reputation first and foremost as a desirable venue for bands of all sizes and genres unsigned bands and well known touring bands and artists play side by side on a regular basis; many of the futures most important bands have played and will play here. Taylors is the only venue in Watford that is entirely dedicated to showcasing original new music.

Taylors stays in business because people return week after week for the relaxed atmosphere, live music and the numerous other events, and in turn Taylors values its customers and treats them with respect not as commodities to be exploited.

Short of chaining ourselves to the building, there is little that we can physically do to stop this travesty, BUT, we can raise a petition and give ourselves a voice to request Watford Borough Councils help. This would preferably be in the form of intervention with the developers saving the venue from demolition, but failing that, helping us secure a new premises in order to keep the cultural oasis that is Taylors Bar alive.

WITH YOUR HELP WE VERY MUCH HOPE TO CONTINUE THE TRADITION WE HAVE BUILT UPON. Please sign this petition and save Watford from losing one of its only cultural alternatives.
