Save the Anglia Ruskin SU

After years of mismanagement, the Student Union Bar is to be "closed", to be replaced by a Student Activities Centre. A travesty upon itself; but a greater travesty that alot of people saw this coming. The fact that the SU refuses to communicate with its students anymore, and has been offering degrading services in relation to entertainments for two years now. We, the undersigned, have several questions we want answered.

1) Why has this decision been taken without consulting ANY students? This information was found out from a Bar Staff meeting, who will lose their jobs because of the mismanagement of the SU bar. The students have not been told, all we have been told is that there will be a statement at "11am". That place was our home, was our lives, and more importantly, USED to be the heart and soul of the university.

2) Why close the SU bar? The turnover in the SU has been diabolical as of late, that much we can see. But how much of that is owed to, as the excuses are trotted out, "a new student climate"? Instead, how much can it be owed to mismanagement? Not letting students have what they want? The first year is remembered so fondly for Sky news during the day, Laughter Lounge, the Quiz, Football at the weekends.. etc. In the last two years, we've seen nearly every night at the SU scrapped or not promoted and ultimately scrapped. The atmosphere has gone from OUR student union bar, because of simple mismanagement.

3) A university without a SU BAR! Alot of people came to university, one thing that attracted them is a SU! How are you going to get people to like and meet new people without one?

Very reasonable points I must say that we demand answering. This has been a travesty of a year, two years even, and it's time that the Students fought back against this complete joke. We have been ignored for too long, told what to like... no more.

SAVE OUR SU!
