Saving Antoine

To Whom it May Concern:

In today's world, there are many terrible situations faced by a great number of people. Usually we see these things happening in far off countries that seem another world away. However, there are atrocities being committed by the very governments that we rely on for our own freedoms.

For the past two and a half years, Kay Lablanquie has been battling for the freedom and rights of her son, nine-year-old Antoine. Despite being very unhappy and longing to stay with his mother, the courts have awarded paternal custody rights, and Antoine will have no choice but to live with his father this coming September. Antoine has even stated he would rather die than live with his father--yet the courts won't listen to his mother's pleas.

Antoine is not an object to be "settled" or "moved" without his consent. He is a child and one who is desperately unhappy with the situation being forced upon him.

French "justice" is no such thing and is tearing a boy away from his loving, healthy, nurturing mother for no reason and throwing him into a situation neither he nor his mother can do anything about.

Antoine should be granted the freedom to decide with whom he will live and his mother should be granted her full maternal rights.

We will not stand idly by and watch a child die because of "justice"!
