SEPARATED AFTER 62 YEARS OF MARRIAGE

I'm writing this to let everyone know what our Government has done to this couple. Edgar an Theresa MacPhee has been married for over 62 years when our mom was put in hospital an told she couldn't return home and was placed on the fourth floor of St. Martha's hospital, while waiting for a nursing home. 3 mths later; our dad, who had fallen in his home on many occasions was placed in the same hospital, was told he could no longer take care of himself was placed on a different floor. We tried to get them in same room but to no avail. In January of 2015 we were told by the head of the Nursing an head of Social Services that they had found a home in New Glasgow for my mom and dad would follow. After assessing my dad who at this point could not even walk we were told he would have to go to an RCF (Residental Care Facility) which is not provided at the Glen Haven Manor where our mom is. We appealed this decision an was denied. Our family then went out to our MLA 's for help.... My brother contacted Michelle Samson's office about 2 mths ago and has yet to hear from him. On at least 2 occasions I contacted the office of Randy Delorey here in Antigonish and has yet to hear back. It has been almost a year since my parents have been apart an our mom has been hospitalized on at least 2 occasions. Our mom is 90 yrs old an dad is 85 yrs and both have all their facilties. This past year has been not only hard on my parents ( as they long to be together ) but on our family as a whole. This separation may not seem long to any given couple but given the age of our parents it seems like a lifetime. We have left this way to long an certainly don't want to cause any waves; however, something has to be done to bring this couple back together. It's obvious that our Government don't seem to care but I ask each and every person to PLEASE SHARE this so it never happens to anyone else.
