SHOW MORE OLYMPIC BASKETBALL COVERAGE ON CHANNEL 7!!!

Throughout your coverage of the 2008 Beijing Olympics, there has been a great deal of concern about the amount of respect and support being shown towards the sport basketball, more specifically, the men's Australian basketball team. There has been constant promotion of the women's and men's basketball team games throughout the days, telling us all to "stick around", saying that the Opals and Boomers will be on "soon". While the coverage has been good for the Opals thus far, there has been inaccurate and false advertising used for the men's basketball team for both games against Croatia and Argentina.

A lot of anger and frustration has been expressed amongst the strong basketball community in Australia when the men's basketball has constantly been interrupted for several hours by events such as Gymnastics, Equestrian (horses jumping sticks!?) and medal ceremonies with anthems that are shown in their entirety, while people have work and school the next day.

People have joined to express their opinions and frustration towards the lack of quality coverage and support for the Australian men's basketball team shown by channel 7.

While we honestly appreciate your coverage when the basketball is shown and not promoted inaccurately, it just isn't fair, or "Australian", to only show the basketball when we are "winning", especially when tens of thousands of Australians around the country are staying up late hoping to support the Boomers and get inspired.

The following is the beginning of an official petition (started on Wednesday 13th August 2008 at 3.02pm) of people across Australia asking for better and more accurate coverage of the men's and women's basketball teams.
