Simplify our lives, switch to a flat rate income tax

Income of 50,000, tax is 17\%, Income of 100,000, yep, its still 17\%! We need a flat tax rate of 17\% or so for income tax - including federal, state, and local - regardless of age, gender, occupation, salary range, dependents, own/rent, business status!

Our tax code is way beyond a normal person's ability to understand or process. Filing the taxes has become a multi-billion dollar industry. We spend thousands of dollars as individuals, businesses, or corporations, keeping track of taxes accrued, owed, paid, filed, refunded, exempted, deferred etc. etc.

It is absurd how convoluted the system has gotten. We put people on the moon, built devices to annihilate the human race - instantly, communicate using minuscule microchips, TIVO a hundred shows, and we can't undo the pain and suffering that every earning American has to endure for no less than 2 weeks each year!!

A flat tax rate would simplify our lives and leave people with the peace of mind that their taxes are withheld when income is disbursed to them, and there are no next steps! The displaced people in the tax industry will continue to be employed, as companies worldwide will adjust their processes to the flat rate system, and thereafter they'll move on to the next big financial thing!
